The newly revamped Wells Fargo Rewards program offers account holders a lot of value. In addition to the ability to redeem rewards for statement credits or cash back, most Wells Fargo consumer credit cards now earn points you can transfer to airlines and hotels.
Wells Fargo rewards are worth 1 cent per point when redeemed toward your statement balance or as cash back, but can provide significantly more value if you use them to book business-class flights or luxury hotel rooms.
Here’s what you should know about earning and redeeming Wells Fargo Rewards in 2025.
Your rewards earning potential depends on the Wells Fargo credit card you have. Several credit cards earn rewards within the Wells Fargo Rewards program. The chart below highlights the differences between the Wells Fargo Autograph® Card, the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card, the Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Card and the Wells Fargo Attune℠ Card. The Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card and the Wells Fargo Attune℠ Card earn cash back, while the Wells Fargo Autograph® Card and Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Card earn Wells Fargo Rewards points.
Wells Fargo offers additional rewards credit cards through partnerships with Choice Privileges, Expedia One Key, and Bilt Rewards. However, these co-branded credit cards earn points that are redeemable within their own separate rewards programs. These rewards cannot be converted into Wells Fargo Rewards.
The other Wells Fargo consumer credit card, the Wells Fargo Reflect® Card, doesn’t offer any rewards. Wells Fargo also offers one business credit card, the Signify Business Cash℠ Card, that earns cash back. (See more about the business card below.)
The best Wells Fargo rewards card for you depends on your spending habits. For the average cardholder, the rewards may look like the numbers in the table below.
Card | First-year rewards value* | Second-year rewards value* |
---|---|---|
Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card | $600 | $400 |
Wells Fargo Autograph® Card | $696 | $446 |
Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Card | $1,049 | $299 |
Wells Fargo Attune℠ Card | $471 | $321 |
However, not everyone is the average cardholder. Let’s say that you’re spending $1,500 a month on purchases. Who would each of these cards be a good fit for? What type of spender would get the most value from the card?
Cash back cards, like the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card and the Wells Fargo Attune℠ Card, typically have a straightforward rewards redemption. You can redeem your cash back rewards in the form of statement credits or cash back, for about one cent per point earned. The Wells Fargo Autograph® Card and Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Card cards earn Wells Fargo Rewards points, which can be transferred to partners.
Wells Fargo Rewards are worth 1 cent apiece when redeemed for statement credits or cash back. If you transfer your points to the program’s seven airline and hotel partners, they can be worth significantly more if you use them to book luxury hotel rooms or business-class flights.
This isn’t because the points themselves are worth more, but because the cash value of your hotel or flight can be significantly higher than the number of points required.
For example, a one-way KLM business-class flight from Austin (AUS) to Amsterdam (AMS) costs $3,216 if paid in cash, but only costs 60,000 points if transferred through Wells Fargo. Since 60,000 points would only be worth $600 if redeemed for a statement credit at 1 point per cent, you’d get a value of 5.36 cents per point transferred to KLM through Wells Fargo Rewards. (Note: You’d still have to pay taxes and fees on the 60,000-point award ticket — around $200 for this particular flight.)
The Signify Business Cash℠ Card is the only business credit card currently available through this issuer. While this no-annual-fee business credit card is simple and straightforward, it offers strong value for most small business owners.
New cardholders can earn $500 cash back after spending $5,000 on purchases within three months of account opening. The card also lets you earn unlimited 2% cash rewards on purchases, and comes with a 0% introductory APR for 12 months from date of account opening on purchases, followed by an APR of 17.49% - 25.49% Variable.
However, the Signify Business Cash℠ Card has some drawbacks as well. You’ll incur a 3% foreign transaction fee if you use it outside of the U.S. And while most Wells Fargo credit cards come with cell phone insurance benefits, this particular card does not.
Wells Fargo credit card rewards are easy to understand, and there are several different options to choose from. And since all Wells Fargo cash rewards are worth the same amount — 1 cent apiece unless transferred to airline and hotel partners— you don’t have to worry about getting more or less value based on how you redeem.
Redeem for statement credits
Wells Fargo Rewards can be redeemed for statement credits on your account, which are then used to cover purchases you have made. Keep in mind that you can only redeem rewards for statement credits for transactions of $1 or more, and that you have to have enough rewards to cover the entire amount of the transaction.
Shop with rewards
You can use Wells Fargo Rewards to shop for merchandise at select retailers, in which case you’ll use your rewards points or cash back at checkout. You can even use rewards to shop for deals with a selection of participating merchants.
You’ll need at least 100 points ($1) and must be able to pay for the whole purchase with rewards to shop with cash rewards from the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card or Wells Fargo Autograph® Card.
Use rewards to travel
You can also use your rewards to pay for travel expenses through Wells Fargo including car rentals, hotel stays, and flights.
Redeem for gift cards
Wells Fargo Rewards can also be redeemed for gift cards to various retailers, restaurants and merchants. In recent years, customers have been able to redeem rewards for gift cards to stores like Home Depot and Apple. If you want to redeem your rewards for a gift card, you can only redeem in multiples of $25 (for example, $25 or $50).
Make payments to Wells Fargo
If you’ve borrowed money from Wells Fargo, you can also redeem your rewards to make a payment. Rewards can be redeemed as payment toward a qualifying Wells Fargo loan, mortgage, or credit product. You can also make an account credit to a Wells Fargo checking account you have on file.
Withdraw cash from an ATM
Wells Fargo rewards credit cards also let you redeem rewards as a cash withdrawal through a Wells Fargo ATM. However, this redemption requires a minimum of $20, and you have to have a Wells Fargo debit card to use this option.
Wells Fargo Rewards do not expire as long as the cardholder’s account remains open.
Wells Fargo Rewards redemptions have different time constraints. For example, you can redeem rewards almost instantly when using points or cash back for merchandise at checkout. But redemptions for statement credits can take five to seven business days to appear in your account.
Yes, Wells Fargo Rewards can be transferred to seven airline and hotel transfer partners: Choice Privileges, Air France-KLM Flying Blue, Avianca lifemiles, British Airways Executive Club, AerClub, Iberia Plus, and Virgin Atlantic/Virgin Red.
You can redeem cash rewards from Wells Fargo credit cards for options like statement credits, credits to eligible Wells Fargo loans, ATM withdrawals, gift cards, travel or merchandise.
While Wells Fargo once had an Earn More Mall that helped cardholders maximize rewards on purchases made with eligible merchants, this program has been discontinued. However, the card issuer continues to offer some special promotions through the My Wells Fargo Deals program.
Yes, Wells Fargo Rewards can be combined across your own credit card accounts. You can also pool points with friends and family, making them extremely flexible to use and redeem.
