Pearly Huang is the copy chief at LendingTree. She oversees the copy editing and fact-checking process for editorial articles published on LendingTree, DepositAccounts and ValuePenguin.

Pearly joined LendingTree in 2019. Since then she has provided extensive high-level editing for accuracy and readability for content produced on the site.

As one of the more senior members of the editorial team, Pearly has used her years of institutional knowledge to help establish and maintain the company’s various style guides. She also coaches new staff writers and contributors on best practices when it comes to informative and inclusive reporting for LendingTree.

Prior to joining LendingTree, Pearly worked at the copy and research desks at several major publishers such as American Express Publishing, TIME Inc., Condé Nast and Hearst. She has also been a contributor at digital media brands such as the Huffington Post and Vox Media.

When Pearly is not editing articles, she enjoys researching travel destinations (now with a family-friendly focus as a new mom) and ways to maximize her credit cards’ earning potential for points and miles.

“Learning about personal finances doesn’t have to be so complicated…you don’t need a fancy degree. Start simple. Maybe put a portion of your paychecks toward an emergency fund. Look into opening a high-yield savings account. Periodically review your credit card benefits AND fees. You don’t have to become an ‘expert’ on all financial topics, just focus on what works best for your lifestyle at a given time.”
